Privacy

Lede Press collects the information needed to run accounts, keep you signed in, and publish listings. This page is the full account of what that includes.

What personal information does Lede Press collect?

Lede Press stores the email address you sign in with, the name a provider shares, the listing you submit, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in. A published page is public. Drafts stay on your account. Email hi@ledepress.com to ask for the account to be deleted.

Who this page covers

This page applies to people who visit https://ledepress.com, people who create an account, and people who submit a listing. A published page is public. Anyone can read it, including the product name, the text, and the link.

Lede Press is published at https://ledepress.com. Questions about this page go to hi@ledepress.com.

Information you give us

When you create an account, we store the email address you use to sign in. If a name is attached to the account, we store that too.

When you add or edit a listing, we store:

  • the title, summary, and body
  • the product name
  • the link URL and the link text
  • the categories you choose, including a category you name
  • whether the listing is a draft or published
  • the dates the listing was created, updated, and published

A published page is public and is listed on the homepage. A draft stays on your account until it is published or deleted.

Sign-in

Email sign-in sends a one-time link through Autosend, the email provider for this site. That message contains the link and your email address. The link expires. We store a verification record until it expires or you use it.

If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive the name, email address, and profile image that provider shares with us, along with the account identifier needed to recognize you on the next visit. We use those details to open and match your account. Google and GitHub process the sign-in under their own policies.

Signing in with more than one method that uses the same email address can attach those methods to one account.

Session cookie

After you sign in, the site sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. The cookie holds a token. The session itself, including when it expires, is stored in our database against your account. Signing out ends that session.

The cookie is required for the signed-in part of the site. We do not set advertising cookies, and the site does not set analytics cookies.

Information collected automatically

The server that delivers the site may keep ordinary request logs. Those logs can include your IP address, browser, the page requested, and the time of the request. We use them to operate the site, diagnose faults, and respond to abuse.

Where it is stored

Account, session, and listing data is stored in a Postgres database hosted by Neon. Email delivery for magic links is handled by Autosend. Google and GitHub handle their own sign-in when you choose those buttons. The company that hosts the application may also process request logs on the server.

These providers process data so the site can run. We do not sell personal information, and we do not give listing data to advertisers.

How we use it

We use the information above to:

  • create your account and keep you signed in
  • show you your drafts and published listings
  • review a submission and publish a page
  • list a published page on the homepage and in its categories
  • answer email you send us, including corrections and takedowns
  • protect the site from abuse and keep it working

Public pages

Once a listing is published, the title, summary, body, product name, categories, and the single link are public. They can be copied, indexed, and linked by other sites. Taking a page down removes it from this site. It does not erase copies other people already made.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and your listings while the account is open. Session records expire. Verification records for magic links expire. Request logs are kept for as long as the host retains them for operations and security.

Email hi@ledepress.com if you want the account and its drafts deleted. Say which email address the account uses. Published pages may stay up when the publication is part of the public archive. Say so in the same email if a published page should come down, and include the URL.

Children

The site is for people submitting and reading product publications. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. If you believe an account was opened for a child, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Sign-in is handled through a one-time email link or through Google or GitHub. Listing data sits in the hosted database. No method of storage or transmission is perfect. Email us if you think an account has been used without permission.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. The current version is the one on this URL. The related pages are the terms of use, the disclaimer, and the editorial policy.

Questions

Does Lede Press sell personal information?

No. Account and listing data are used to sign you in and to publish pages. They are stored in a Neon Postgres database. Magic-link email is sent through Autosend. Google and GitHub only receive the sign-in if you use those buttons.

Are published pages public?

Yes. A published title, summary, body, product name, categories, and the single dofollow link can be read, indexed, and quoted. Taking a page down removes it from this site. It does not erase copies other people already made.
